Sylvia

A picture of me in a medieval wall in Tallinn, Estonia. My name is Sylvia, and I am a Graphic Designer. I’m a bit of a formatting junkie. You can blame Vanity Fair for kick-starting my love of layout. I like design that is clean, straightforward, and elegant with a dash of quirk.

I grew up studying ballet, and I still take classes. I genuinely love ballet. It seems to me that all the existing steps are like a language. Once you know grammar and structure, you can create something with any tone you want. Technique is there to help you. Once you can do a step technically well, you can dance without hurting yourself, and you can build on that step to something more complex and beautiful.

This is my philosophy on design. Design is just another language. It’s just another dance style. It has steps and technique; it has grammar and structure. The more you play and work with the pieces, the more you get to place where you can create something you’re proud of. And hopefully other people will like it too.
